How To Dress

This is the coolest woman I saw today. And no, this blog won't turn into The Sartorialist any time soon.

Supreme does it again. It's so easy for them.
Supreme is where Fonzie goes when his hair goes out of wack.
Threadless, that bastion of online T shirt sales now has an off-line shop. I think this is fantastic. A business that has built itself up online with expected sales of $30M next year, is venturing into bricks and mortar.
But why do this when they are so successful online? Well, they want to connect all the artists and T-shirt fans, have design classes and galleries and stuff like that. They feel that their community will be more vibrant if there is an off-line offering as well. How right they are. You can't stay on the computer all the time...it's gets pretty dull.
Most retails chains can't keep up with Threadless, they have new shirts every week. The only shop that can keep up with Threadless is Threadless (luckily). The new shop is in Chicago. I expect more will spring up here and there in the future. I always knew there was no money in T shirts!
I wonder if we'll ever see an Etsy shop? That would be something I'd travel to.
(The mat is from the Threadless shop.)
These guys are not the first to do this, but I do like it.
The concept of taking a 'thing' which people are familiar with in terms of location, colour and design and subverting it to your own ends is nearly always entertaining and thought provoking.
I imagine that if they had used the yellow with a blue band design used by the Police, they would have gotten into trouble.
Kazmattazz is a pretty good trainer shop too.
This one is seven kinds of crazy but quite inspired. This Nike Bike (see where the inspiration came from!) saddle is by a guy called Nash, who did some widely talked about Nike / Visvim shoes a while back. This saddle is something to do with a new BMX exhibition coming soon called We The People. Might be worth looking out for what he does next!
Seen on the Bond Blog.
Mike has been getting a bit of press here and there recently for some reason. The designs seem to be about Nike and Michael Jordan mostly. This one caught my eye and near plucked it out.
Seriously, didn't we have enough of this 15 years ago with Adihash, Baked Being, Enjoy Cocaine, etc etc.
Unless that's exactly the point - 20 year old kids don't remember those shirts, so this concept is new to them.
Suddenly I feel like a grumpy old man. But surely some things shouldn't be recycled. The film Striptease should not be re-made and I don't want shell suits back. We must be able to learn at least that from our mistakes.
Anyway, it wasn't clever the first time and it's not clever now. Come up with your own idea.
If I've entirely missed a subtle nuance please feel free to correct me!
Six Eight Seven Six have been making some nice clothes for quite some time now, so it might be worth popping along to their sample sale from tomorrow.
I've been buying some T shirts to give away as prizes for a new I Love My project for Sense Worldwide. The trouble is I kinda like the T shirts and don't want to give them away now...
I Love My T-Shirt is the latest incarnation of the project that started with the pretty successful I Love My Chair. You basically take a picture of your favourite T Shirt and then answer a few questions about the Tee. The best ones win a prize and make it into the book which Sense Worldwide self publish. Nice.
This arrived in the post the other day. A rare, highly desirable Ed Banger T Shirt. The were 3 colour-ways, 200 of each colour-way. The 600 T shirts sold out from the Arcade Mode site in 35 minutes. At £20 per shirt that's £12k in 35 minutes. Pretty damn amazing! Like I always say, there's no money in T Shirts.
