A La Carte

French This is a sweet little restaurant in Edinburgh on Grassmarket I found recently. French food served and cooked by actual French folk as you might hope. In the evening it’s about £15 a main course, but during the day you can get a starter, main and coffee for £9.90, all from the same menu. Good eh! It worked for me. The butter, Lakeland, was Irish not French but sensational, and I ending up eating all the whole bread basket. If anyone finds this butter I suggest you eat loads of it until it affects your heart, then stop.

Ya Do Run Ron

Ron
Ron Mueck is nothing short of phenomenal. This sculptor rose to fame around 1996 when Charles Saatchi noticed his work and included him in his Britart extravaganza Sensation at London's Royal Academy. He makes sculptures of over and undersized people as hopefully the pictures below show. He has a show on in Edinburgh’s National Gallery until October 1st. He doesn't have shows too often and this is definitely stuff you need to see live.

The Last Drop

Last_drop
I saw this in The Last Drop in Edinburgh recently. You don’t see this level of brilliance in most pubs.

Waste management

Waste
1 in 5 children aged 12 in Scotland are technically obese, so when I saw this sign on a bus stop declaring how 'waste aware’ Edinburgh was, I couldn't help but smile.

Edinburgh is Analogue

Analogue is a great book / print / gallery shop in Edinburgh on West Bow. It’s independent to its very core. It has shows on by folk like Will Barras, Jon Burgerman and currently Lucy Macleod. They seem to have all the best books around, and some damn nice prints as well. Be sure to stop by if you find yourself in the area.

The Up North Trip

Picture_4_2 I recently went on a short trip to Edinburgh where I found some goodies, which I'll be displaying over the next few days. But to start with here is a Scottie dog lying on some tartan. You couldn't stage it better.
