Russell Simmons, co-founder of Def Jam wants certain words banned in music, namely; Bitch, Ho and Nigger. These words cause offence he claims, and indeed one can see how this might be the case.
But seriously buddy; you have made a lot of money out of records that use those words. Def Jam have released albums by Method Man, DMX, Capone-N-Noreaga and Ghostface Killah, just to name a few rappers who I reckon have uttered those expletives in their tunes.
If Russell really believes in this, I think he should donate all monies received from records containing those words to a charity for oppressed African-American women, and refuse to sign anyone who uses such language.
He also believes a body should be set up to monitor the use of such offensive words in the music industry. Isn’t that pretty harsh artist censorship in the land of free speech?
Polite, inoffensive rappers? Whatever next!
Russell above with Eminem, who obviously never says bad words at all.
that is so true,
It's chump change, ya'll bitch niggas go get my coco - Ghostface
Niggaz think they bigga, cause they got the finga on the trigga - Method man
Any nigga make it hot, get found in vacant lot - DMX
