Ronnie 'The Hawk' Hawkins is a pretty famous musician. He's recorded over 25 albums and has been instrumental in many a rock family tree.
Born in Arkansas in 1935, he quickly become famous in Canada while touring. Moving there however prompted most of his band to quit except drummer Levon Helm.
Their vacancies were eventually filled by Canadians Robbie Robertson, Rick
Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth
Hudson.
Helm and the rest of those Hawks would leave Hawkins in 1964 to form an act of their own, which eventually came to be named The Band.
