A one hit wonder and a storming great record, as many one hit wonders are. The lead vocalist left the band after this single to join the Marines! Pretty likely he was shipped off to Vietnam.
If America hadn't gotten involved in the Vietnam war (apart from all the obvious results) there would have been a lot more great music produced. So many young men (in bands) got sent off to fight.
