This is one of those records that just starts you off. The white boy making the driving R&B breaks.
Georgie Fame has a few records like this although generally he's known for the slightly poppier tracks (sadly).
I'd love to find some more tracks of this caliber by him but I only know a few... Every now and then he even sounds like Tony Joe White.
Georgie Fame - Somebody Stole My Thunder
Tony Joe White is a pretty rad old dude. He wears sunglasses all the time and usually a hat as well. He started out in 1969 with an album called Black and White. He was part of the Muscle Shoals movement but leaned much more towards the swamp rock sound.
He has just about the best southern drawl you'll hear on record and he writes fantastic story records of which this is a great example. That's about all you need to know, oh and he's called Swamp Fox by some people!

Fame is one of those labels which just blows me away. They put out a phenomenal amount of great music.
George Soule is / was one of the main staples of the Muscle Shoals scene. When he rose to fame in the early 1970s, black music stations and magazines tried to feature him thinking he was black. Sadly for George (being white) he had to turn them down.

Georgie managed to bridge quite a few musical styles during his considerable career which sees few breaks from 1963 until now. I would have to say I'm not really a fan but this stomper is an exception.
It's got a grinding groove that you just can't sit still to and a solid funk beat that does some damage. I'm just sad he didn't make more records like this....
