Pavement are simply one of those bands that had something. They were different. Forming in 1989 in California, they were one of the most popular lo fi indie rock bands of the time, though sadly never really getting that much commercial acclaim.
They stayed true to their roots and stayed on an independent label for the whole of their 10 year existence. Cut Your Hair was the bands biggest single, even getting MTV airtime.
Stephen Malkmus continues to record and perform with his own band and some others too but rarely touches the genius they managed in Pavement.
